Drugs and muscle repair
Nov. 13th, 2016 12:58 pmWe know that commonly used drugs can by some measures do more harm than good. For example, in the simple case of reducing one's fever it can be that a moderate fever was actually a good move in that the pathogen may have disliked it more than one's body did so reducing the fever can prolong the illness.
I am sometimes achy some hours after a good workout. My reading suggests that some moderate ache is fine and that if I simply continue exercising as normal then it soon improves. On a similar note to the fever example, I wonder if taking a painkiller for the achiness might also have the effect of impeding my muscles' process of repair and improvement ready for the next day.
