Foods from a farm
Oct. 21st, 2026 07:25 amLast weekend, with assorted family, I visited a farm overlooking Edinburgh airport, with a shop where I bought cheese and jam.
We already have a nice creamy Cornish brie at home and I have some creamy Lancashire cheese on its way to me later this month from Actual Lancashire but here I bought local cheeses: I picked up a cheddar from Mull, a gouda from near Inverness (with R. in mind), and a blue from Lanark (selected by R.'s eldest). The cheddar's actually my least favorite, the gouda (Connage Highland Dairy) is lovely and the blue's very pleasant too.
I have yet to try the jams, which are branded as being from the farm itself. There's a rowan one, new to me but I do tend to like berries. There's a gooseberry elderflower: I like elderflower and love gooseberry. And, rhubarb ginger: I like ginger and love rhubarb. So, I look forward to those but of course the cheeses are the more perishable.

Date: 2026-10-22 12:31 pm (UTC)I love rhubarb and ginger jam! I haven't had it in years, and have never actually made it myself, because I've never had the surplus of rhubarb that would be required.
