Washing detergent treasure hunt

I naively bought a container of liquid laundry detergent from the grocery store. On looking to use it yesterday, I found that it recommended certain volumes to be used in various situations but included no means of measuring. Instead, one was to call them to get a measuring device for free.

I called the number but it told me to call back during certain hours. Calling it back accordingly, a recorded message told me to go to some website to submit a request. I did so, the response I got later on informed me that I must do so via some different website. Having done that, it says that, in a couple of weeks, I'll get a measuring device for powder. With luck, that works for liquid too.

How needlessly aggravating. Thank you, Procter & Gamble.

I really don't understand why companies don't put themselves in the place of a customer, and actually try to use their own services. If it's worth setting up a process, and advertising it to customers, it's worth actually verifying that it works.

Of course, my company is the same. Globally, all of our factories are required to use the same training system for our online training courses. The IT department that selected, procured, and maintains that system refuses to use it, and makes us take our mandatory online cybersecurity courses using a different training software package.

Absolutely. Goes for packaging too: they (especially management) should have to use (including open) their own products, then things would surely change for the better. So often, e.g., the parts that are meant to separate, are stronger than the ones that aren't!

I strongly suspect that institutional IT at some past employers has also not had their work computers as inconveniently locked down as those of the commoners.

Ha, yes. In my previous job, I submitted plenty of allow this site tickets with explanations: they lock them, they get to deal with the complaints. The latest one I got them to unlock, before I left, was for the store that was repairing my cellphone, which apparently is an adult site.

We were blocked from submitting mandatory paperwork to a government website on the grounds of "weapons, violence". We make electronics that are used in defence systems.
