Less-annoying computers
May. 5th, 2020 07:53 amA small update to the previous: authentication to talk.google.com started succeeding again later in the day. rsync onto the next backup volume completed successfully after fsck on that volume had made its fixes.
Update: Gah, another brief power cut while copying onto the subsequent backup volume! (Yes, I am extremely cautious. I have also never lost data in over a couple of decades of backups.) Therefore rsync is now running on another volume. Had the power cut come half an hour later then all would probably have been fine. I have our core infrastructure on battery backup but not the computer hosting the backup drives.
Update: The second interrupted backup process onto the second redundant volume did complete fine in the end, before that day's power cut, the third in as many days.
