Good actors

Wonderfalls is a quirky, imaginative television comedy. Like so very many good shows it was canceled prematurely by Fox. The first episode suffices as a representative taste. Hannibal is a rather darker television drama with good production values and it's worth watching the first season if you enjoy creepiness. (The film of the same title is okay but not at all the same thing.) Caroline Dhavernas appears in both shows and I was struck by how different in manner she seems between the two. Okay, they're separated by around a decade but I don't think people usually change much. I am therefore guessing that she might actually be a good actress. In my opinion there aren't too many of those around, at least as represented among the actors who appear on our screens in recurring roles: it's far more common for actors to consistently appear approximately the same in manner and personality, though sometimes they seemed good but once established have taken an easier typecast path.

I don't think I mentioned, but my friend Spencer messaged Bryan Fuller on twitter asking why Wonderfalls is "set" in Niagara, NY, when it's clearly shot in Niagara, Ontario. He replied that since it was for a USA television channel, they *made* him say it was Niagara, NY. :)
