I'm glad the difference is nice and that you get to compare and notice. I indeed had a pleasant enough drive to Toronto in a hired Ford Contour which in those years was very much a Mondeo. (On the other hand, the US Ford Escort was nothing like the UK one, go figure.) On the other hand, one of my worst cars was a Dodge Neon: it didn't have the power for steep roads and, being an American hire car, was an automatic, so there was limited scope for compensating with the gears.
