I previously mentioned fan speculation regarding quite what was happening on
Babylon 5(1993) over the course of its broadcast. The more I watch and read about
Mr Robot(2015) the more I notice a similar effect; at least, one that I actually care about. It's far subtler than
Babylon 5: there are myriad clues dropped whose significance isn't immediately apparent but that, with hindsight, fit seamlessly into the larger frame. If the writers live up to expectations then the show will absolutely bear a rewatching. It has been a long time since I was able to read others' ideas about an ongoing television show and find them to be genuinely interesting hypotheses, in contrast to, say, the discussion of the multiple-choice cliffhanger that ended season six of
The Walking Dead(2010) about which I could barely give two dried figs.
