It turns out that Saturday afternoon on the moving-in weekend of Freshers' Week is not the time to try stopping into work to pick something up. I am sufficiently divorced from student affairs that I had no idea anything unusual would be occurring. Though, once inside the buildings of the research complex it was quite deserted in comparison with the craziness outside.
