A rocket booster visits
Sep. 21st, 2023 06:04 pmLocal media reported a (replica) rocket booster in George Square so we wandered up to see it. I liked that one side of it features an annotated depiction of its twin's innards, showing things like the two stages' pairs of chambers for oxygen. Still, had I not known in advance that it was but a replica, it might have taken the time of year to reassure me that it isn't only April Fools heading up to see the rocket next to the railway station.
There were various unoccupied, fenced-off information or exhibition booths around the rocket. If one visits at the correct time, presumably the site becomes more open and engaging. From what I could see, the displays appeared to promote careers in the space industry. I might have been interested in the satellite software jobs locally except, while I have the right background to quickly get to grips with that kind of embedded computing, I don't have the experience on paper.
