A change of job and abode

An urgent reason (a good one) arose for me to return to Scotland within the next few weeks so I have now accepted an offer to be programming in Rust for a startup. The plan is for me to work remotely from Aberdeen and apply for family visas for my wife and her sons to come to join me there. I have therefore been unusually busy recently and that will continue for some while yet as many ducks require linear arrangement. Of course, it would be incredibly helpful for the visas to then be approved but at least the processing times are far shorter than their American equivalents even if the fees are outrageously high.

(Kudos to Bright Purple for finding me that vacancy and some other good prospects.)

Given that I try to keep my journal mostly public to everybody, I don't post much about people beyond just me here, I leave that for them to do on their media. Will drop you e-mail. (-:

Glad you found a place and so quickly, since the current situation sounded like it was derailing fast. Also Scotland sounds far safer than Tennessee. For some reason I thought everyone in your family was Scottish and had Scottish heritage? I probably misread something - or this horrid brain fog.

I had not visited Scotland before interviewing for my previous job there. Though, go enough generations back on my mother's mother's side, they may well reach back to Scotland via Ireland. My first wife and kids were born in the US, my wife and her kids were born in SE Asia, I'm the only natively British one among them.

Not your brain fog, in this journal I am typically rather circumspect about family matters, though happy to expand more on things privately.

Sounds complicated, and it makes sense you'd want to keep it private. I don't tell everything in mine either, and lock the stuff that gets too personal.

But it does explain why you have to move - and why the trip to SE Asia. I'd kind of figured it was that. (I'm good at reading subtext.)
