Snooker in Kabul

In watching a vox populi section of a news report from Kabul, I was surprised by how one of the interviewees was in a snooker hall. It would be nice to have a life affording conveniently available snooker, not that this tempts me to relocate to Kabul, regardless of what the Taliban think of snooker. Kabul's youth may be accustomed to their liberties but I suppose that Tehran's also were back in the seventies.

Yep, they were. So were Kabul's youth before the Soviet forces moved in, back in 1978, right?

Goodness, I'd guess so, but honestly I know little about what conditions were like under that occupation. Now it strikes me that that aspect hasn't been a backdrop for anything I've seen or read.
