Mmm, I remember in central Ohio whenever the winter started, at first a lot of drivers seemed to be as if they'd never seen a winter before. In the end I ended up owning an AWD Subaru and putting severe snow tires on it for each winter and that sure helped, also we had a 4WD Mazda minivan that allowed locking the center diff that made it good at climbing up over and through the snow, again probably something that would be good in sand too. It was funny living in Boston to see that the accumulation was such that they even needed to truck the snow out of the city; there I saw a blizzard as early as Hallowe'en! I'm okay with FWD cars but still not sure how to control a RWD car if it starts to lose traction.
