A beautiful day

Today I drove into Dundee, I enjoy the easy journey on the empty roads. It was a surprisingly glorious day, 17°C and sunny. We had drugs to pick up at the pharmacy, it was nice to have an essential trip, one that got me out of the village without much contact with others. There were a fair few people on Perth Road, some joggers, but in general they seemed to be making an effort to observe social distancing.

I think driving is one of the things we can do safely. Though the roads are stunningly empty here. I think people don't want to have to buy gas. They are afraid of contamination of the gas pumps.

Here they want people to have a good excuse for making the trip at all: specifically, going to some pretty place to get some exercise doesn't count, social distancing or not — which I think is a bit overcautious really but it sounds as if some were even engaging in scenic long-distance travel which also seems (literally!) to be going a bit far. I am not much worried about pumping gas: there are enough places with the pay-at-the-pump and I have my hand sanitizer with me so I don't get near anyone and can sanitize promptly.
