Early this morning I dreamed that crazyscot asked me what the size of Java longs is on our OMERO.server deployments at work. Java standardizes them as eight-byte signed integers, not that I have any idea why the question was coming to mind.

Boggle! Do you have an application in mind that might need non-standard longs...?

I suppose I think sometimes about requirements for arbitrarily large integers but nothing work- or Java-related!
