Numerical coincidences in dieting
Jan. 26th, 2019 09:15 amToday I notice that champagne and orange juice are similarly calorific. That is convenient for being careless with the ratio when making mimosas. Last weekend when we had either ham or sausage to put on muffins, those disks of processed meat had the same calorie count so that simplified my food log. That the muffin I had on Monday happened to have the same number of calories as the potato I ate yesterday evening reminds me of the birthday paradox. (Well,
tattiesrather than potato, given Burns Night.)

Date: 2019-01-26 04:12 pm (UTC)So I've been eating salads and soups and light meals.
I can't do a lot of protein because of kidneys not being 100%, so keto is totally out. (Plus, honestly, that's such a dangerous damn diet. I don't know how it became so popular!)

I don't have any significant dietary restrictions and am not doing anything extreme: I try to be somewhat low-carb, other things being equal, but mostly I am just trying to limit my calories well enough to avoid becoming overweight again. The current experiment is to see if I can get away with eating around 1900kcal/day. In time, we'll find out.

Date: 2019-01-26 07:22 pm (UTC)It's good not to have dietary restrictions!
I, unfortunately, inherited every single family genetic weakness from both sides of my family. But as long as I take care of myself, exercise, eat well, and take my meds, I'm really healthy.
It's just the way it goes.
