I enjoy a fair bit of Westernization of my Chinese cuisine and today I got around to making the last of the convenience food in my freezer: General Tso's chicken. The breaded chicken is provided, one just has to fry it then add the sauce packet toward the end. I had also picked up some cheap Californian rice (Nishiki), the kind one soaks before cooking, and together they made for a nice dish. Separately, I ate some tomato soup so at least there was a vegetable somewhere.

The packaging of the frozen chicken dish seemed optimistic. The net weight of food is marked as being eighteen ounces. Half of that is the sauce. They claim three and a half servings per packet, thus making for less than three ounces of chicken per person: I don't think so. Two servings, I'll grant them, certainly not three.

Update: It turns out that the cooked rice is nearly as good even after having been stored frozen.
