I like being able to dress more smartly when occasion warrants but for a long time it has not seemed worth investing in decent clothes. I have not had real management responsibility in a workplace in recent years and, before losing weight then learning to maintain that loss, it seemed unwise to expect any item to continue to fit me. My weight maintenance has gone well for many months, even after relocating and having my routine shaken up, I also now have a well-remunerated position in which I hope to be given opportunity to again wield my various skills beyond software engineering, so I believe that it may no longer be imprudent to invest in better clothing.
A couple of years ago I was mentioning here some frustration in finding clothes to buy then following up with more regarding, … seeking a reliable ongoing source of trousers that fit me, in contrast to whatever the season's design and tailoring currently happen to be …
. I similarly feel this with suits. I don't care to impress anybody with a recognizably prestige brand of suit or to make the fit quite perfect. What would be great is some established vendor who, affordably, simply lets me register measurements, make a few choices, then have a couple of adequately fitting suits and shirts appear, in such a way that, a few years later, the process is likely to still work satisfactorily if repeated.
I think this might turn out to be fairly easy, I should search online to see if there is some consensus on decent, yet cheap, providers that people have used for years. I am curious to learn if affordability might more easily come through ordering from some other continent.
