Ha yes, one rarely bumps into black-eye peas here! If you are ever caught short without them here your best chance is some of the Afro-Caribbean food stores. When we're lucky enough to see canned pumpkin we buy a dozen there and then. We've also found ourselves trying to substitute Indian chili peppers for Mexican ones. In the US I'd be sometimes amused to find Indian ingredients in a store's British section.
