Two intermodal containers visit
Sep. 22nd, 2020 03:56 pmYesterday I mentioned the movers collecting my goods and effects for their journey ahead of me over the coming weeks. I did not mention that this morning the movers were bringing them back again, seventy-one items in all. This was so that I may witness their packing into the twenty-foot container that is to be used for my move.
In the end the plan was stymied at the last by the lack of a wooden bulkhead for the container, there was just the bare steel inside, so we got to stand around the truck and container for a while as we waited for remote people to check things and make decisions. Eventually the container guy went away and, after they had been here for maybe five hours or more, the movers left too. Then, the container guy was back with another container, wondering where the movers were. He hung around for maybe nearly an hour then left again.
My guess is that the container loading will eventually happen elsewhere without me. Update: Indeed, off in a warehouse in Aberdeen, it seems; I am to be sent photographs.
