Nuclear close calls

Over the years I have read and watched plenty about the Cold War and a recurring theme from both the American and Soviet sides is close calls that nearly caused nuclear detonations or launches against the other. I have now learned enough of so many very close calls to start wondering if the stories are exaggerated or if the world has simply been extremely lucky. It is nearly enough to make one a theist.

Wrapped against the cold

I often feel cold at my desk at work; I have put this down to a combination of the building's air conditioning and that I have not adjusted to my weight loss. Last week I trialed what is turning out to be an effective solution: I bring my long wool coat in and if I feel unpleasantly cold then I simply sit at my desk wearing my buttoned coat. My feet are still cold but I don't mind that so much.
