Coming out of Dundee and waiting to turn left at the Swallow Roundabout I saw the Glasgow Megabus perform its usual act of seeing that the queue to turn right was much shorter and turning left by joining the shorter lane then circling the roundabout 1¼ times. It seems rather cheeky and the Highway Code does instruct one to join the correct lane but I wonder if the more selfish route remains technically legal.

To my surprise one disappointment I've had in returning to the UK is the sinks. If my hands need washing then I rather like to be able to rub them together vigorously under clean running water. However, even given that though the faucets are often separate I am fine having to use cold water, and even if it's a manual faucet rather than one of the many awful automatic ones that need me to guess quite the correct position and movement to keep it running (at work it's an awkward position with fingers pointing straight down), the spout is usually too short so the water falls right next to the edge of the bowl and there isn't even room for me to properly fit my hands underneath the flow in a way that permits me to actually wash them well. Perhaps it's a cultural difference and I'm meant to fill the small bowl, except there's rarely a good way to stop the drain properly anyway.

The Telegraph reports on recent research,
Feeding babies with peanuts at least three times a week protects them from developing nut allergies in later life, a new study suggests.
Ha. When we were new parents dutifully reading and following the latest advice it was hard not to notice some degree of oscillation in comparing with older advice. I thus should have seen this latest change coming. I am left with the impression is that the best advice is not to waste time discovering the latest advice as it'll probably turn out to be wrong, just focus on doing what feels right and, after it's born, attentively interact with your baby. I wonder on which side they're supposed to sleep these days.
