Pizza with extra toppings
Oct. 27th, 2018 08:36 pmPizza is in the British news at the moment as Public Health England is considering recommending calorie limits for various popular foods. Despite that, today I appreciated that to our margherita pizzas Miranda added extra toppings: anchovies for one and Danish blue cheese for the other, both of which I enjoyed. I suppose that the Department of Health and Social Care probably worry about our food's salt content too but blue cheese does need a fair bit of it.

Date: 2018-10-28 08:52 am (UTC)It very much looks intended to affect takeout. The least irritating related online news source that I find on this is The Telegraph who to my relief do not include a video. It mentions Domino's, Deliveroo, etc. I quietly boycotted the Domino's on Hills Road for a while: I went in, stood at the counter, watched the distant staff for quite some time, then being unacknowledged eventually got bored and went away again to replan dinner. I have found only in England the peculiar phenomenon of shops appearing to be open but the staff not behaving as if they too thought that.

Date: 2018-10-28 08:56 am (UTC)I am reminded of WeightWatcher's chicken in orange, which was one of my go-to suppers at Oxford, except that you had to eat two of them.
Perhaps they're actually trying to reduce calories-per-mouthful, which might be possible.
