A mild cold and a pleasant sunrise
Oct. 19th, 2018 08:04 amMy children recently had a cold, probably brought home from school at the end of Autumn Term. For some days now I have had related mild symptoms: initially some achiness then mostly upper respiratory congestion and a sore throat. This morning my throat is rather more painful; we will see how it develops.
Last night I again had a difficult time getting to sleep, worrying about a medium-term stressor over which I have little power as I rely upon distant agents. It is probable that meditation would help to quiet my mind but I already fail to make time for more directly pressing tasks. At least I was not much bothered by the rude drivers on my morning commute: the usual variety where I catch up to them in the outside lane, they are not passing anybody but they just remain there anyway.
I still came into work: I do not feel much rotten nor am I sneezing and coughing everywhere. My decision to leave the house was rewarded by a lovely sunrise: the sun itself still hid somewhere behind the hills of Fife but its orange light brightly illuminated the richly textured underside of the cloud layer.
