Suffering a cold

Lately it has seemed that I am but lightly affected by infectious illnesses but with the cold that my family currently suffers it is instead mst3kmoxie who seems to me to be the luckiest. This particular cold has sore throat as a principal symptom; my voice has become more deep and raspy. For the past couple of days I have been taking decongestant and painkillers and have avoided tasks that require much thought or concentration, instead opting for passive entertainment like shows on Netflix. Of course, this illness has been another break in my attempts to exercise frequently. I expect to feel better just in time for getting back to work.

Update: I now read in The Telegraph of an H3N2 influenza outbreak sweeping Scotland. That could explain why I have been rather more ill than I expected and that I have also suffered nausea. Still, as I was able to watch television and am already on the mend, maybe in my case it is just a bad cold.

Do you tend to get the annual flu shot? Our doctor pushes it, but I only agree to it if I'm there for some other reason; I don't go in just for that.

Hopefully your immune system will kick in soon!

Thank you. I tend not to but it is not much pushed at me, especially now in the UK where I am not among a population that the NHS considers to be much at risk. If a free 'flu shot were to come conveniently wandering by I would probably have it, though I hear this year's wasn't one of the most effective. I still have my cough but at least tonight my mind feels clearer than it has for a while so I figure that I continue to be on the mend, just slowly.

Judging from the color of my mucus over past days, my immune system's been busy indeed! (Gah, can't tag comments tmi.)
