Singers' voices

A few weeks ago I mentioned hearing The Lightning Seeds' Pure on Absolute Radio. It also featured on today's exercise playlist and I noticed that Ian Broudie sounds like an even gentler version of Neil Tennant. In my opinion neither of them has a great voice in comparison with other groups' lead singers of the era like Philip Oakey but they wisely stay enough within what they can do.

Today's playlist also included Fame and, given my previous entry about voice pitch, I noticed with that song and Flashdance Irene Cara's vocals often seem pitched fairly low; maybe that is where she sounds best. A bit of searching online does not bear out this impression so I may be mistaken.
