I find it curious that humans enjoy music. I am hardly an audiophile: my standards are probably low given I usually listen to music through my £8 JVC headphones. Still, in sorting out the garage recently, I was looking out for my amplifier and speakers. These are vestiges of my life in Ohio that I have held on to since. For a while there, now a decade ago, I seemed to have things together. Then, I noticed that I didn't; a while after that I left LiveJournal. Some electronic devices have accompanied me through times since.

So, they include a 50W amplifier and a pair of carpeted bass reflex 200W speakers. (I always like to overspec audio equipment.) I finally hooked these items up at my upstairs work desk and I am finding that they make a large difference: the reproduction is much better than I am used to and I am hearing much more in familiar music. I'm currently listening to some Russian Orthodox liturgical work, including contrabass, based on Psalm 71, and it's as if I were right there. Well worth the effort.
