It's certainly easier to daydream in a lap pool with a lane to oneself, the environment isn't raising pressing or distracting matters. (-: (I've never been able to keep count of lengths!) So far it's also only in a gentle indoor pool that I might much put my face in the water as part of my stroke. Maybe what I'd want is a very large figure eight so I don't have to keep turning around at each end.
