Indulging in strawberries

mtbcLiving in the Carse of Gowrie we are surrounded by berry farms. mst3kmoxie recently led a socially distanced strawberry-picking expedition and we have since been eating our fill. Today the remaining strawberries were rendered into a tasty compôte, some of which I added to a scone before topping with clotted cream.
Although I am Mancunian I have mentioned how living in Cornwall for many years gave me a taste for some local foods from there also. For a Cornish cream tea one is to apply strawberry jam to a scone then top it with clotted cream; Devonians indulge in the perverse inversion of applying the cream, then the jam. While I got things right with the compôte tonight, I realized that yesterday may have been rather unorthodox in my using clotted cream to affix fresh strawberries to my scone.
