Relearning to shave
May. 30th, 2021 06:06 pmYears ago I learned to shave, first with a safety razor, then a straight razor. I kept my shaving kit. On moving back to the US during a pandemic, I started shaving again, partly for better mask fit. I started with an electric razor, for convenience. I have since started to switch back to the straight razor, which I last used over a decade ago.
The relearning is interesting. When I first got back on a bicycle for the first time in maybe a couple of decades, I wobbled a little then was fine. My first attempt with the straight razor, well, it was almost as if I'd never used one before. The second time went far better so, with luck, by the time I am summoned back to work on-site, thus having to make time for a commute, I'll be able to shave fairly quickly. I use Feather blades, a Japanese brand that I order from Asian vendors.
