In watching Sky News, occasionally I have been surprised to find them asserting COVID-19 Key Facts like, Cold or hot weather cannot kill Covid-19. My understanding is that the viable lifetime on fomites decreases with higher temperature, humidity, sunshine, etc. For example, when I last had the arborists over, they left a bottle of Mountain Dew in my yard, and I left it alone before clearing it up to allow more time for it to pose less of a risk. However, if I were able to return to the Philippines in a couple of months' time, when it should be hot, humid and sunny, once there I probably wouldn't have waited for quite as long before clearing away such trash. Washing my hands properly afterward is important in either case but for severe, ongoing risks I favor defense in depth.

Perhaps, despite some other key facts clearly referencing fomites, this one has implicit context of the rather likelier direct transmission so they do not expect much weather-caused variation in case numbers, which would be fair enough if the statement were clearly qualified. After all, our respiratory tract is rather climate-controlled. Plausibly they also limit their thinking to British weather, despite the channel having an international audience. Unless I am mistaken about the virus' lifetime on surfaces probably being less on 35°C days than at 15°C, I would prefer them not to cast doubt on their facts by including ones that seem less credible.
