A cloud of small insects
Jul. 4th, 2018 08:49 amDriving on the M90 late last night I was curious about the particles that the headlamps appeared to start illuminating in the air ahead. There were no obvious rainclouds, nor was there great wind as may blow parts of flora about, nor are we anywhere near the wildfires currently consuming English moors, which left fauna as the only other explanation coming to my mind. The mass of green winged corpses that I see plastering the front of the car this morning confirm that final hypothesis. I am reminded of when we rented a white car for a summer road trip to the American South.
Incidentally, during last night's travel it was striking that, even a couple of hours after sunset, this far North the summer sky was still noticeably brighter near the horizon.
