This morning's workout was my slowest for a long time so there does seem to be a downward trend with my gentler but more sustainable routine of exercising without much time pressure on two weekdays and once again at the weekend. Earlier this year I could do one thousand of the cross-trainer's calories in under forty-four minutes. Last Saturday that goal took me nearly fifty minutes and this morning a few seconds more. Perhaps I will stabilize at an acceptable point but it could be that I should look at complementing the workout with something else, even just some bodyweight exercises in the bedroom on three other days of the week now I am exercising against lower resistance.

Time is precious and I also want to get personal computing stuff done. When I get home from work I feel too tired and hungry to do much other than exercise or help to make food. After our evening meal there is usually at least some television to watch which is a welcome break and escape. We now have the third season of Mr Robot (2015) on, the second season of Stranger Things (2016) is now available, we should soon get The Sinner (2017) too: even after paring down I still manage to find a decent show most evenings. I also tend to watch something easier just before bed, like Samurai Gourmet (2017), to help wind down and prepare to sleep. I am working harder to not get drawn into others' shows: for example, during Gunpowder (2017) I went upstairs to attend to a wireless access point that had fallen incommunicado after a firmware upgrade.

I have accidentally gone back to working for well over eight hours some days. I had some writing to do this past week that I tended to get lost in and colleagues often seem to come and talk to me about something at right about the time I would leave. I hope to get back to leaving a little earlier.

Sleeping has gone quite well. I decided to return Rudi te Velde's Aquinas on God to the library so somebody else can benefit from its soporific powers as I do not seem to need it at present. I should have guessed that this morning's workout would not go well when many minutes passed in between my first awakening to consciousness and my feeling inclined to open my eyes and operate my limbs: that typically indicates further sluggishness to come. The playlist I used this morning was not as good for me as the previous. Later, when I put Absolute Radio on while doing some chores, The Lightning Seeds' Pure was played: I turned it up and was reminded how the latest Later… With Jools Holland (1992) included a few songs that illustrated the importance of a good bassline. I would have danced were the part of my brain that enjoys music at all connected to anything with motor control.
