My first electric toothbrush did not last long. The head became increasingly difficult to pull off its stalk for cleaning. The next head was extremely stiff from the start. Eventually the head-penetrating stalk broke off the main unit. I could neither see nor feel any accumulation of residue.

I had followed the instructions about rinsing the head and main unit under running water after each use and letting it dry before reassembling the two parts. Perhaps this was my mistake? I wonder if I should have just left the toothbrush assembled.

I am disappointed to find that the obvious replacement toothbrushes appear to be very similar indeed in design. I do not want to spend the money on a new electric toothbrush only for it to fail in the same manner. I would give it an occasional spray with WD-40 or its ilk were that not soon to be followed by the subsequent step of putting the head part into my mouth.
