I suppose God singular indeed doesn't much seem to suggest, say, Hinduism or Shinto. There is a part of me that would appreciate clear meaningful ritual, as Judaism or Islam may offer, but I may be more naturally inclined to some kind of proto-Christianity or proto-Buddhism, i.e. inferring what we can of what they were before they accreted extra doctrine and stories: Buddhism partly because of the chance of finding truth in this life, Christianity in that I have very much grown up with it as a background^*, and both offer a shedding of one's personal worldly concerns, though for Buddhism it's not like God's going to step in and start one on the path. I don't have any excitingly converted religious friends who are other than Christian.

^*The public school I mentioned recently was a Methodist school and the obligatory humanities subject I chose there was religious studies (I dropped history and geography) in which we were taught for the two Christianity modules.
