A window both tilted and turned
I had an unpleasant surprise today. The windows seemed to be such that the top opens a little, they hinge at the bottom. I'd opened them to let some cool air come through, later I chose to close them. In attempting to close one of them, I somehow caused a bottom corner to also come loose such that I now had a window moving somewhat freely at three of its four corners. Moreover, it would not close. I could see various parts of mechanism and what was obstructing what but could not work out how to reverse whatever I had done to wrest it so free of its frame.

In the end, I learned from the Internet that we have
tilt and turnwindows, and that should really be an
orbecause one ought not do both at once. The window can tilt in the manner I had been using, or it can hinge at the side to open more fully. Fortunately, the Internet also taught me the procedure for closing it properly back into the frame if someone manages to get it into the state I was facing, which came as quite a relief. I really did not want to have broken the window mechanism shortly before spending time away and while bothering the landlord over other matters.
