Dune (2021)

I braved the cinema for the first time in this pandemic to see Dune (2021) which was worth the trip, especially as nobody sat nearby. My resulting impression is that: the movie looks great and I would gladly watch it again but it made me realize that, though I don't think a movie adaptation of Dune could be much better, the novels have so much plot and content that it would take a series to do them justice. The movie but nodded at or skipped a lot of detail: though it included many key scenes, it just didn't have the time to weave the rich tapestry that is part of what makes the novels special. Still, I am good with Dune being the movie for which I took another step back into the Before Times.

I loved the books as well. I've seen the other Dune movie and thought it was very so-so, but I'd like to see this one because I love Jason Momoa and I've heard he's terrific in it.

Unfortunately Pat has no interest. He couldn't get through the books, doesn't care to.

So I'm on my own. (sigh)

Yeah, Lynch got into the politics, but honestly, I love action movies, so the action in this would probably make me happy. (grin)

Maybe I'll sneak off on my own.
