A visiting raccoon

Late last night, a raccoon was removed from my attic. Before it departed on its journey to a suitable rural environment, I had the opportunity to study it in its cage, my first good look at one, previously I had glimpsed them more briefly and distantly. This raccoon fit my mental image well. Most interesting was its behavior, it strongly reminded me of how a cat might behave in similar circumstances. Given how intelligent and cute they are, now I see why people domesticate them, though one may not here in Tennessee. Part of this round of work on the house includes preventing the ingress of further intruders.

Glad that you both survived this encounter.

I know they're cute, but I don't think I would want one as a pet. (grin)

Having seen a mother and four kits from the indoors side of household windows looking into a back yard a decade ago...neither would I.
