Unexpected improvement in workouts

Back in August I was mentioning how, having failed to achieve burning an average of 25 of the cross-trainer's idea of calories per minute, I had slacked off somewhat and my typical performance had dropped to a rate of 19½: I wondered how much further down it might go. A month later I had the pleasant surprise of the start of unexpected improvement. I do not know what changed but for the past couple of weeks in every one of my workouts I have averaged more than 20 calories per minute; today was just over 20¼. If I can sustain that in the medium term then I shall be satisfied.

Early in today's motivation playlist was a song about being ready to die, soon followed by a song about how much it hurts. Okay, they were upbeat, but what kind of motivation that is I don't know. As I was slowing down for the end, on the playlist came Together in Electric Dreams which I am not ashamed to admit I always enjoy.
