Blurring semantic lines

I have been using Unix shells for well over twenty years. Still, I notice that when I am not paying attention, just casually typing away, I occasionally confuse things in ways that could shed light on how I conceptualize the steps of my activity. For example, I may confuse ls with cat or even ssh and, while this is a basic category error that a moment's thought resolves, I am perhaps thinking of these more generally as, let me look inside ….
