Learning and doing
As I age I am increasingly of the suspicion that, being educated and experienced, I ought to be spend less time learning new things and more time using what I already know. This may be the most efficient given the investment already made in learning things I am not already much using together with the diminishing return of learning new things when I have decreasingly many good years of brain use remaining. Ongoing learning is considered good as one ages but perhaps it suffices to face intellectual challenges in general rather than learning in particular. For me, a stronger argument to continue learning is simply that I am curious and, selfishly, I feel better the more I know, even if I ultimately achieve less overall.
