Just coming back to think about this. I too am glad to avoid tourist places, I lived in Cambridge awhile and that was even worse than Edinburgh. My village was in mid-Cornwall, far enough from Truro and the coasts to not much see tourists. In thinking about my years in Columbus, Ohio, it definitely felt like more a place to live than to visit!
