Success and failure at work

Today's success at work was navigating a new route, in the 4500 buildings, crossing North to South via the F corridor skyway. So, that's another to add to my knowledge. There are interesting things to see along the way, these buildings being a research laboratory complex that I think dates to the early 1950's, including a sign in a storage area: Recycle Station — computer output and cards only — Please deposit output free of paper clips, binder clips, staples, etc. Cards should be in card boxes.

During my half-sleepless night, I thought of an alternative for the AI research project propsal, involving characterizing inhomogenous phase spaces for predictive maintenance and the like. However, I am hardly up on comparable approaches, such as with long short-term memory networks, and I do not have the time to develop the background to properly discuss approaches in a proposal, especially as I would also want to pull in a couple of different collaborators to advise on the project. I shall skip this opportunity and take more account of how proposal-related internal timelines tend to run quickly; I am used to having more than a month to develop ideas and find collaborators.

RFPs vary a lot in prep time, but short deadlines is not unusual.
