Google maps for navigation

Through trying to minimize expenses I came rather late to smartphone ownership; I now have a Moto E running Android. Two of my reasons for wanting to return to the US are the M5 and the M6: it's like throwing a die each time I must use them. At least through living in Perthshire I mostly remain several bargepoles away from them.

Fortunately there is a lady in my telephone who watches out for me and tells me things. A few times yesterday she spoke up to divert us off the M5 and the M6 to take all manner of A and B roads that occasionally came within view of the slow-moving motorway traffic; she generally seemed more accurate than the official dot-matrix messages from the gantries. I couldn't help but wonder how many other vehicles acting similarly had the same routing software working from the same live data.

Coincidentally off-motorway detours over the past several days twice brought me near Lower Peover in Cheshire where my grandparents once had a cottage of which I have very hazy childhood memories.
