A liking for plot twists

Recently we rewatched Frailty (2001), a movie I consider underrated; I do enjoy the twists toward the end. The latest season of Mr Robot (2015) is now in progress; a large twist last season came from having the viewer not perceive true reality. In that respect one might be reminded of Fight Club (1999), another movie I like. I am encouraged to draw the conclusion that I do like a good twist or two that makes me rethink what I already saw.

Their twists toward the end may be why I like movies like Franklyn (2008) and Ink (2009) which did not exactly fill the cinemas: they have various failings but I enjoyed them nonetheless. That I particularly like plot twists more than is typical may explain that for some of my favorite plot elements of Blade Runner (1982) and The Butterfly Effect (2004) those made it into the director's cut but not the original theatrical release.

Of course it is not as if plot twists are not generally appreciated: M. Night Shyamalan had much mainstream success with both The Sixth Sense (1999) and Unbreakable (2000) which are each highly enriched by twists toward the end.
